Finding a comfortable school skort can be a challenge. You might find a stockist only to see them discontinued the next year. And that’s probably because skorts are not simple to make. In fact they’re pretty intricate.

It’s a challenge getting the skirt to fit neatly into the waistband. Plus attaching hidden bike shorts and an invisible side pocket is all complex.

And we know this because it took us a while to get our designs right. 

There were a few prototypes to begin with. Initially the under-shorts were longer than the skirts (which looked like old 1920 swimsuit. Or the hems needed some extra reinforcement to stop them unravelling.

But fortunately through trial and error we got the design right.  And soon we created our signature Skortshop skort. A flattering ‘simple’ skort that not only looks incredibly stylish, but also makes a great girls’ primary school sports uniform. And a garment that girls love to wear.

Of course the fabric plays an important role in its success.  The poly/cotton backed skirt and 90% cotton/spandex shorts underneath are super durable and stretchy. And, we’re proud to say they are made in Australian, And they’re made from Australian fabrics.
